Here’s a track that I just made within the last couple of days. This guy is special for a few reasons.
Firstly, I learned that you can freeze a track and extract the waveform from midi information. This made chopping up that synth bass WAY easier than it ever was before (I was rerouting the audio to a different track and recording it, it was a pain in the ass).
Also, this is the only track I’ve ever made purely in Ableton’s arrangement view. I’ve found that session view tends to make me create repetitive “loopy” songs, so I just tried to make it like anyone else in other DAW’s would make a track.
Also, it’s a bit of a frankenstein track in that it was something completely different in the first place… and I ended up gutting it and moving everything around.
Because of this, it doesn’t really go anywhere… it just “goes”.
Also I tried to master it and failed and probably ruined it oh god.
On the plus side, no one reads these posts. So ignorance is bliss I suppose.

So I’m actually putting out 2 new songs this time, instead of just that one.
This one is a bit different than anything I usually do for a few reasons.
Firstly, it’s one of the only songs i’ve ever made that uses compressors. Every song on EP One was compressor-less, I figured I should start using them because they are probably helpful.
Also, it’s a completely different style of music than I usually make.Pineapple.
Also, I really like the picture I used for it. I might consider using it for my next release’s cover.

Not using my keyboard to make melodies.
After being called a “nub” by someone for using my keyboard, I have actually come to realize it’s pretty helpful for making original sounding melodies.
The reason? There is no such thing as muscle memory when you’re plugging in midi notes, you’re judging it purely by what sounds good.

Finally finished a new track.
It’s not really new, I’ve been cracking away it for awhile, but I finished it to the point where I’m happy with it guess.
Got to try my new synths with this track too, very fun indeed.
I also tried some different production techniques on this that I’ll probably use again in the future.

“Demo” or “デモ.”
It’s Japanese for “demonstration” or “protest.” That’s where I’m going to be today, but not to protest, because I’d have no idea what was going on (I know the basic premise is about Tepco (Japanese Electric Company) and nuclear energy stuff) but, to take pictures for a class.
I’m charging my batteries and checking my gear and hoping that it will stop raining. Hopefully I don’t have to stay for the entire 6 hours, but I have no idea what to expect because I missed class. Sigh~
The Government is going to send 150 riot police. I can’t picture Japanese people getting crazy enough to warrant riot police, but we will see- TEHEHEHEHEHE!
In music news, I’ve been working on one track more than any other tracks, It’s got some interesting elements that are refreshing and unlike the stuff I’ve put out before. Also, I think I’m going to change it up a bit when I “release” it. I’m going to put it on my soundcloud, but I’m not going to let people download it (I don’t think.) This is so when my next real release ( Ep, Lp Other-p ) comes out, hopefully there will be more incentive to download it… It sounds okay in theory, but like I said before, only 230~ or so people have downloaded my first release. Occasionally there will be a little boost because of a little word of mouth, but the main rush of downloads is over. I don’t think I have enough people who actually like my music to warrant not letting everyone download everything until I get to more “fans.”
So in short I have no fucking idea what I’m doing.
Breaking it down to a science like that kind of ruins it, but I only have like 3 people who read these posts, so whatever.

Hey there 3 people.
I’m still alive, I promise.
I’ve been working on tracks, 2 in particular, and maybe a 3rd one after tonight.
My EP was downloaded roughly 220 times, which is pretty cool for a first time ever release, that I didn’t really promote for. Hopefully word of mouth does some work ;).I’ve admittedly been playing a lot of Minecraft, I won’t deny it. Minecraft is the perfect game for me right now. It has endless creative flexibility and I don’t have to focus super hardcore on what I’m doing (so I can still listen to music in the background).
I’ve also been particularly interested in the Playstation vita. I really hope it’s good :D

I finally finished and released my EP. It’s a bit delayed, but whatever it’s not like anyone is paying for it.

If I was a responsible human being I would be going to bed right now. It’s 5:30 AM, way past the “hey I’m still up and it’s cool” period. I’ve ventured into creepy mouth-breather / neck-beard morning hours, reserved only for the nerdiest of nerds.
Sigh.
Tomorrow, I’ll make myself feel better by cleaning my apartment, paying my bills, and getting some groceries.
And then it’s going to be a music day :)
The EP is done as far as song selection and ordering goes, even the songs themselves are finished. It’s mainly just a waiting game for me now. I “mastered” everything, but I’m not really sure if I’m satisfied with the end results or not. I’m going to sit on it for a while and listen to it after my head is clear. And, as we all know: one of the best way to clear your mind of previous tracks? Make new ones.
So I’ll make some traxxxx, and I’m maybe going to put some new stuff up on my Soundcloud.
Sooner or later 01014.org is going got put out a compilation of stuff including me and Tender Buttons (I think) and some other people that are still on the fence about it I think. I’m actually not really sure when this will be released in relation to when my EP is going to go live… Hmmm~
In Japan related news. My girlfriend went back to Iwate to visit her family. She’ll be there until the 9th which means I have 4 more days to be a total waste of life.
